I'm not a developer, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. I cold-emailed the CEO of Replit—a YC-backed billion-dollar AI startup that's lets anyone create software using English prompts—and he replied, giving me credits to build my solution. During the 2024 Christmas holidays, I developed a working demo. By New Year's, I had raised funding from Merge Club—a Silicon Valley community with just 3% acceptance rate. Working with them revealed something crucial: they had a culture we often lack in Kenya—one that accelerates each other's growth and treats failure as fuel for the next breakthrough, not something to hide from. When regulatory hurdles forced me to sunset the project, I felt defeated. But then it hit me: If someone like me—with no coding background—could build real solutions using AI, imagine what others could create with the right tools and community support. That's why I founded AI Manyatta- an ambitious community where people learn to transform their biggest problems into AI-powered solutions. Everyone has problems worth solving, and now AI gives us the means to solve them.
